The word ombre is French and means “shadow” or “shade”. In terms of hair coloring, it is the gradual change of hair color from dark to light (root to end) or vice versa. It can also apply to highlights and lowlights. The more popular color combination seems to be darkest brown/black to light brown or blonde. If done correctly, ombre coloring can look oh-so-lovely and add rich dimensions to one’s ‘do.
I first recall noticing the two-toned ombre hair color trend back in 2010, almost 2 years ago (which by fashion standards is an eternity!), and since then, many fashion and beauty blogs have repeatedly announced its demise, yet…it remains. Even high-end brands are getting in on the “fad”. Prada had their models wear extreme color combos at their Fall 2012 Fashion Week shows.
One of my favorite Ombre examples has to be Khloe Kardashian! Everytime I watch her show “Khloe & Lamar” all I seem to focus on is how beautiful her hair looks and the glow it always gives her face and outfits! Check out these beautiful dip dyed inspirational looks! I’m so getting this done ASAP!lightens her glossy chocolate locks and adds a glamorous wave for a trip up the red carpet Be experimental with your dip-dye this season like Jaime King‘s bold blue hair hue
The queen of the trend Drew Barrymore looks more fabulous than ever with her two-tone locks
Miley Cyrus gets involved, showing off statement purple tips Whether you’re ready to fully commit, or fancy adding a few subtle streaks like Vanessa Hudgens, another celebrity to rock the dip-dye hair trend Always working her own cool twist on a trend Alexa Chung does messy, two-tone rather than multi-tone Looking super-sultry Ashlee Simpson shows off ultra-long locks with the top, darker section pinned-up into plaits Leighton Meester works a softer variety of two-tone hair with this gradually blended version of graduated chestnut brown Mila Kunis wears her glossy long brunette locks with a subtle dip-dye, to stop the style getting boring Olivia Wilde brings her ombre look up to date with a sophisticated side parting as seen on a host of autumn catwalks
