Work Friendly Trends: Who says the weekend gets to have all the fun

1. Wedges. Way more comfortable than pumps, these foot-friendly sandals aren’t just for the beach. Go for more demure heights (less than 4″) and luxe straps in leather or canvas (nix the rope) for a more grown-up look. Pair with a pencil skirt or tailored trousers for a look that’s tongue-in-chic!

2. Brights. If last summer was all about neon, then this summer is all about brights — colors that pop like coral, cobalt, and lime. Keep the silhouette work-appropriate with a classic sheath or tailored blouse, and pull it all together with a skinny belt in gold or tan. Extra points for color-blocking: think a kelly green pencil skirt with a mint top. Bye-bye cubicle blahs!

3. Chambray. Our campy favorite can work overtime when paired with a pencil skirt or under a tailored blazer. Stick with even-toned denim (not distressed) and a fitted look (not boyfriend) for a look that’s cute and comfy. Add a statement necklace for a pop of color and you’re ready for whatever the day might throw at you.

4. Pleats. We know what you’re thinking: librarian-chic? But we’ve been seeing pleats everywhere this season, from long flowing maxis to super short minis. We like knee- or tea-length styles for work: they show off your ankles and adorable pedicure without being too leggy for the boardroom. Plus, this breathable style is ideal for beating the summer heat! Toughen it up with a dark blazer or crisp top.

5. Prints. Think: retro. Thanks to Trina Turk’s recent collab with Banana Republic, you can get your hands on super saturated Palm Springs-esque prints for less. Just remember: less is more. Tame a bold top with a structured jacket or leg-elongating trousers. Take a walk on the wild side…even if it’s just to the water cooler!

Love at first sight!

There is nothing much to say here, other than the outfit is perfectly gorgeous.

1- The DRESS: Love the color, Knitwear is always trendy, comfortable, and this one is also chic! (Forget about the fact that she has legs to die for – Moving on)

2- BOOT: Oh love at first sight! I NEEEED those boots, the color is gorgeous and I love the details. These boots can be worn with just about any outfit (seriously, ANY outfit)

3- BAG: Well I always am a sucker for big bags, but this one ticks all the right boxes for me. Maybe if I saw it alone, as in, not part of this outfit, I would think twice about it, but this look … Id need to get the bag as well. Plus, the grayish, rust like effect, is gorgeous (and I don’t even like gray as a color much!)

I know we are creeping towards summer and not winter, but I could not help myself, I lOVE this.

Which JEANS are you??

A pair of Jeans says a lot about a person. When it comes to me, I love bright ones and experimenting with all the color blocking options. Not to forget the printed Jeans, and the pastels, which are really rubbing off on me as well. However, I will always revert to my classic jeans when I want a classic clean look.
The beauty of the brights this season is that they can majorly pull a look together without having to add much else, seriously, just put on a neon or bright / pastel pair of jeans, add a simple (white is my favorite) tshirt, and there you have it! Don’t forget, if you want a funky yet more elegant / sophisticated look, you can always add a blazer to that same outfit you are wearing, and of course some nice pumps. Even adding the pumps without the blazer can shift a look from sporty/casual to a more chic/casual look. Every piece counts!
Fashion only needs us to have an eye for mixing and matching, and the ability to make the most out of what you already have. I mean, who can really afford shopping everyday and buying every single piece of clothing on their wish list? (Yes i know, some people can do that, oh well, many can’t!) You really need one nice pair of jeans and you can do wonders! Personally, I would stick with brights (not neons) for jeans, and keep the neons for accessories (its all about personal taste).
So if you were to buy a pair of jeans, which style would it be? Get your inspiration below and HAPPY SHOPPING!

Pinboard: Spring / Summer Pastels

This season, the shades are simply delectable: sugared almond hues, ice cream flavors and boiled sweets. Yummy! Something pretty, subtle, and sweet: pastels. A paler take on the color-blocking trend, think light pink plus mint green plus daffodil!

The FLORAL Moral of 2011 Spring / Summer!

FLORAL PRINTS TAKE OVER THE CATWALK!

Be it pants, skirts, dresses or more, Florals seem to be taking a lead and looks like they will be staying put for seasons to come.

As Coco Chanel once said “Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” The whole floral trend kept

showing up and disappearing only to show up once again to bring out that feminine, fresh yet funky touch in our style.

I am a firm believer that to each one of us a style a character and a touch … I have simplified this must have to make it easier for anyone to drag and drop from the lists until  you can finally say “Oh that’s so me!” ! SO……..

1-  Florals don’t always have to look super girly or cute for those of you that are not so into that look. You should be able to wear trendy pieces without sacrificing your fashion character. And your character is the most important thing.

The Dress

  1. You can go for a more casual yet retro lady-like outfit by teaming the floral dress with a belted cardigan
  2. The Floral  dress can go well with a long knit jacket, opaque tights and knee-high boots (For a colder weather Layer a turtleneck underneath)
  3.  For a night look, go for a silky floral dress, black tights and a pair of black pumps.

2- The Trousers

  1. You can pair with neutrals / monotones so that most of the focus is on the pants. I think the shoulder cut-out  tops would give the outfit a bit of edge. To show off your figure, you could add a belt to the top. and some black ankle booties to complete the look.
  2. You can also try them with a bright tank tucked into the trousers then tone it down with a chic black blazer and some black shoes. You can also wear flats as well if heels are not your thing.
  3. You could also go with a long black tunic, a long necklace, and some combat boots! If the combat boots are too edgy, try some strappy black heels instead.

 Blazers / Jumpsuits

Keep any blazer or jumpsuit simple by wearing monotones and keeping the top jewelry light.

Pair with solid coloured shoes and bag. Any more colors or patterns is going to be too much.

The mix of florals with darker colours will make your outfit more interesting and will definitely stand out!

Other Funky Florals

If what you have seen is way to out there for you, why not wear it simple as an accessory –  flip-flops, peep-toe shoes, sandals or maybe as a purse.

For example: If you wear black trousers with a black tank and simply add a purse with a funky floral print, that could be your floral fix right there.

Its all about how you see yourself and how fashion speaks out to you.
